What the product does

A storefront for a sewing, quilting and craft supplies brand, covering product listings, filtering and cart, and served by a dedicated search API alongside the brand's main Laravel backend.

Problem

The problem it solves

A catalog of more than 45,000 items has to stay browsable and searchable, without routing every query through the existing Laravel backend.

My role

What I contributed

Frontend development for the storefront, plus a standalone search API built in Python and integrated with the React app.

Solution

How the system was designed

Responsive React screens with Redux Toolkit managing client-side state, paired with an independent search API written in Python and FastAPI over MySQL and integrated directly with the frontend.

Challenges

  • Searching a 45,000-item catalog
    Problem
    Search across the full catalog needed to be served without adding load to the existing Laravel backend.
    Approach
    Built the search API as a separate FastAPI service reading from MySQL, integrated directly with the React frontend.
